Welcome To Bearwallow Moon

Bearwallow Moon is fourth-generation farmland that we’re “rewilding” back to its natural habitat. The goal is to create a sustainable space that is both beautiful and nurturing for the wildlife residing here – and restorative for those who visit.

We absolutely loved staying here. It was quiet, private and relaxing. We enjoyed bird watching, strolling in the meadow and kicking back by the fire pit in the evening.‘ – KJ, Hipcamper, June 2023

We allow the native meadow grass to grow, with paths cut through to the gardens. You’ll see bluebirds and tree swallows nesting in the birdhouses. You may hear the Great Horned owls hooting to one another across Cane Creek Valley. One of them frequents the treeline near the campsite. The 2.5-acre field fills with fireflies twinkling from dusk to dawn. Mornings, the sun rises over Bearwallow Mountain.

Very quiet location was close to Asheville. Beautiful horizon views and tree line. Nice little fire pit. Super full hookup was very nice. Saw tons of shooting stars and watching the nesting bluebirds was wonderful.‘ – Janet, Hipcamper, April 2023

At the moment, to keep the impact low, we have only one site for camper vans or travel trailers up to 25 feet. The site has full hook-ups, 30-amp, (new) well water that was passed tests by the North Carolina Division of Public Health in 2022, and septic, with a hose already in place for you to attach to your vehicle.

I believe these caterpillar-looking creatures are “pine sawflies,” which are conifer-feeding insects that enjoy gnawing at our Virginia pines. Apparently they can do significant damage to the tree - even to the point of killing it, so unless someone knows better than us, we’ll be pruning the affected area to rid the tree of the cute creatures - or package them as gummy worms. #pinesawfly #insects #pinetree #virginiapine

Another crappy day at the office (NOT!). Love waking up and nurturing the land at Bearwallow Moon. That’s Bearwallow Mountain above the mist. Thank you @tams_outside for your hard work today. #bearwallow #farmland #comingalong #rewild
